RCIC/OCIC (RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF CHILDREN
RCIC/OCIC - Rite of Christian Initiation of Children
RCIC is the process for children to be baptized and enter the Catholic Church who have not been baptized as an infant but are now past the age of reason and know right and wrong and can thus commit actual sins. It is sometimes called the "Rite of Christian Initiation Adapted for Children."
Children usually between the ages of 7 and 14 take part in RCIC classes to receive the Sacrament of Baptism and enter the Catholic Church. Children in high school older than 14 usually will take part in standard RCIA classes.
Children under 7 years old, are to be Baptized as an infant as soon as possible by Deacon Ron Sandoval and continue taking First Communion class.
Children 8 to 10 years old (incoming 3rd - 5th grade) who are seeking Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation (Catechumens) must attend Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation retreats will and will have First Communion classes on Mondays from 5:30 - 6:45 pm. This class is offered in English.
Children 11-14 years of age (incoming 6th -8th grade) who are already Baptized and seeking First Communion and Confirmation (Candidates) must attend Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation retreats and will attend RCIC classes on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:45 pm. This class is offered in English.
Children 11-14 years of age (incoming 6th -8th grade) who are not already Baptized and are seeking Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation (Catechumens) must attend Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation retreats and will attend RCIC classes on Mondays from 7:00 - 8:15 pm. This class is offered in English.
Children 15-17 years of age (incoming 9th – 12th grade) who are already Baptized and seeking First Communion and Confirmation (Candidates) must attend Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation retreats and will attend RCIC classes on Mondays from 7:00 - 8:15 pm. This class is offered in English.
